nese djouma

With the awareness of different cultural attitudes towards mental health, I offer support in helping clients feel seen and heard in a safe environment, regardless of background/religion.

Introduction

Welcome and thank you for visiting my website.  My name is Nese Djouma, and I am an integrative counsellor based in London, UK.  My journey into counselling and psychotherapy started with my own experiences of seeking support.  I know how challenging it can be to cope with life’s struggles, and how difficult it sometimes feels to reach out for help.  From these experiences, I’ve developed a deep sense of empathy and an understanding of what it’s like to seek support.  I use this insight to guide and support my clients in a safe and non-judgmental way.  I truly believe it takes courage to seek help, and I’m here to offer professional support and encouragement as you take that step.  My goal is to help clients feel understood, empowered, and able to thrive.

Education/Experience
Theory and Approach

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) and hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, with the CPCAB.

Following the BACP ethical framework, I engage in regular continuing professional development and supervision to ensure my practice is safe, ethical, and effective.

I offer a therapeutic experience tailored to each client, creating a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental space.  I believe my clients are the experts of their own lives, and I draw on techniques from psychodynamic and person-centred approaches to support their goals.

My experience includes working for NHS Talking Therapies and other agencies such as Mindworks UK and Place2Be, supporting adults, children and young people (CYP).

I have worked with clients from a wide range of backgrounds, helping them explore and manage their thoughts, feelings, and challenges in a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment.

What is counselling and psychotherapy

What is the difference?

Counselling focuses on current difficulties or specific challenges you may be facing and is usually short-term.  Psychotherapy, on the other hand, can help explore deeper, long-standing thoughts and patterns, including unconscious processes, and is often longer-term.

Why choose counselling/
psychotherapy?

Counselling and psychotherapy provide a confidential space to discuss issues causing you distress.  These may stem from a particular life event or other challenges, leading to feelings such as depression, anxiety, confusion, or feeling stuck.  The aim is to support you in understanding and managing these emotions in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

What can counselling and psychotherapy help with?

They can support improvements in mental and emotional well-being, including confidence and self-esteem, and other opportunities to:

  • Talk about feelings and emotions
  • Process difficult experiences
  • Gain clarity and insight
  • Identify and change unhelpful thinking patterns or habits
  • Discover inner resources for personal growth

Counselling and psychotherapy can be helpful for life changes or challenges such as divorce, bereavement, disability, illness, relationship difficulties, or trauma.  They can also assist with issues, including:

  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Spirituality & religion
  • Self-esteem
  • Codependency
  • Coping skills

Islamic Counselling

Islamic counselling is a “faith-based” approach that integrates spirituality into therapy, in line with Islamic principles.  It is available for Muslim clients who wish to address personal challenges while respecting their faith and fulfilling their responsibilities as a servant of Allah SWT (God).
